Car Accidents
A car/auto collision occurs when a road vehicle collides with another vehicle, pedestrian, inanimate object, or animal. The determination of liability in an auto accident is often more difficult than determining which driver was, "at fault." For this reason, it is imperative that you obtain legal guidance when you have been involved in an auto collision.
The collision can result in injury, property damage, death, and significant financial loss. The vehicle design, impairment of the driver, speed of operation, and road conditions contribute to the risk of collision. It is important to address these conditions to avoid a collision.
Many organizations have begun to use the term, "collision" rather than "accident" because the term "accident" implies something that is unpredictable or unavoidable. The term "accident" is not accurate because many vehicular collisions could have been avoided if the risks were addressed beforehand. For example, a prescription states that the medicine could impair the ability to drive. The driver disregards this warning and chooses to drive anyway. The impaired driver collides with another vehicle. It was not an accident, but negligence and blatant disregard of the prescription's warning label that caused the collision.
